We were back at it only a few weeks after our last trip. This one however started with a trip to Discount Tire and a new set of trailer tires so we wouldn't run into trouble on our way up to Wichita Falls. At just over 100 miles from home, we thought this would be a great state park to explore for the weekend. This was our second trip pulling the camper with the new truck, and what a difference it made. It was windy on the drive north on US 287, but the crosswinds were not much of an issue with the added weight and power of the F-250. We pulled into camp just after 7:30 PM and enjoyed an easy setup at a nice and level spot surrounded by mesquite trees.
After a quick dinner, we rode our bikes around the park looking around. Reese enjoyed her cozy spot in her buggy that's attached to Dad's bike. Towards the end of our ride, we found a park, but the night had quickly crept up on us and we agreed to come back the next day. Of course, Luke would be wide awake at 6:00 AM ready to return.

Saturday started off with more bike riding, playing at another park, and fishing from the docks. We didn't have any luck with the fish, so the boys and Dad decided to go swimming instead. The lake was very full due to the heavy rains we've had all May which made the beach much smaller than it normally would be. The boys didn't mind though, they just jumped in like fish. After a while, Reese and Molly joined and we swam until lunch. We enjoyed a very pleasant afternoon taking naps or playing Sorry and Uno. We also discovered Luke's first loose tooth, which consumed him much of the rest of the trip. He did eventually lose it once we got back on Sunday, along with Bryce who lost his eighth tooth.
The boys wanted another quick swim after dinner, so we headed back down to the empty beach for a bit. The skies were beautiful that night, almost like they were on fire. It really was a terrific sight. We finished Saturday night off with movies and got to sleep in on Sunday.
Sunday morning started off with a 'Big' breakfast of pancakes, sausage, and eggs followed by a quick trip to the park before packing up. We were shocked to find a large beetle had crept into camp during the night, but he must have ingested some of the fire ant poison we'd put out because he was moving slow and kept flipping over on his back. Other wildlife in camp included some beautiful cardinals and deer (though too quick to catch a photo). We really enjoyed this quick trip, and I believe we will be back again.
