After four and a half years, we decided to sell our camper. It was perfect for our adventures during that time and gave us plenty of memories. As our lives became busier with the growing number of our commitments, we found ourselves unable to break away and use it as much as we had. You see the evidence in the lack of posts within the last 18 months. During that time though we were able to rent it, letting other families enjoy the outdoors and build their own memories. I hauled it back and forth across the metroplex to different campsites, setting it up, breaking it down and that became more cumbersome than I wanted to continue.
In the summer of 2024, our family in Shallowater (just outside Lubbock) were building a home and incredibly sold their home much quicker than expected. They were going to need a place to stay until their new construction was complete, so we offered to let them use our camper for the interim. Jarrod and Kenzie were so thankful for being able to use it and some good friends of theirs let them setup in their barn. The next few months were filled making memories of their own. That included their dog, Lori, having puppies in the camper. The family was off checking on the progress of the house we were building, leaving six-year-old Kord with Lori in the camper in the barn and their friends inside their home.

While Kord watched TV, Lori began acting different. I can only imagine what was going through his head when he saw that she started giving birth. He called his mom and said, “Lori has a puppy coming out of her butt!” They navigated that challenge and were able to move into their new home in December.

We had made so many memories in that camper—cozy nights under the stars, rainy afternoons playing games, and mornings waking up to the smell of bacon sizzling on the Blackstone. We knew that the opportunity to keep making those was going to be scarce with our chaotic schedule, so we asked Jarrod and Kenzi if they could put a ‘For Sale’ sign on it and see what happens.
Within a few days we had an offer and by February 1 we had it sold. The family that bought it was so excited about getting to use it making me question if we were making the correct decision. I’m sure we’ll get another camper in the future, but for now, we’ll put a pause on CampOrrs!
